Different Types of Gear Transmission

Gear transmission is a mechanical transmission that transmits power and motion by meshing the teeth of two gears. It has a compact structure, efficient and smooth transmission, and a long lifespan. Furthermore, its transmission ratio is precise and can be used across a wide range of power and speed. Due to these characteristics, gear transmission is the most widely used among all mechanical transmissions.

At Goodwill, we are pleased to offer cutting-edge gears in a variety of sizes, diameters, and configurations. As a leading provider of mechanical power transmission components in China, we have the knowledge and capabilities to help our customers in obtaining high-quality gears at a reasonable price. We could provide you spur gears, bevel gears, worm gears, shaft gears, as well as racks. Whether your product is standard gears, or a new design, Goodwill can meet your requirements.

Different Types of Gear Transmission1

1. Involute Cylindrical Gear Transmission
One of the most common types of gear transmission is involute cylindrical gear transmission. It has high transmission speed, superior transmission power, high transmission efficiency, and good interchangeability. Furthermore, involute cylindrical gears are simple to assemble and maintain, and the tooth can be modification in a variety of ways to improve transmission quality. They are widely used in the movement or power transmission between parallel shafts.

2. Involute Arc Gear Transmission
The involute arc gear transmission is a circular toothed point-mesh gear drive. There are two types of meshing: single-circular-arc gear transmission and double-circular-arc gear transmission. Arc gears are characterized by their high load-bearing capacity, straightforward technology, and low manufacturing costs. They are currently used extensively in metallurgy, mining, lifting and transport machinery, and high-speed gear transmission.

3. Involute Bevel Gear Drive
Involute bevel gear drive is two involute bevel gears composed of intersecting shaft gear drive, the intersection angle between the axes can be any angle, but the common intersection angle between the axes is 90 °, its function is to transfer the motion and torque between the two intersecting axes.

4. Worm Drive
The worm drive is a gear mechanism consisting of two components, the worm and the worm wheel, that transmits motion and torque between crossed axis. It is characterised by smooth working, low vibration, low impact, low noise, large transmission ratio, small size, light weight and compact structure; it has a very high bending strength and can withstand high impact loads. The disadvantages are low efficiency, poor resistance to gluing, wear and pitting on the tooth surface, and easy heat generation. Mostly used for decelerating drives.

5. Pin Gear Transmission
The pin gear transmission is a special form of fixed axes gear drive. The large wheels with cylindrical pin teeth are called pin wheels. The pin gear transmission is divided into three forms: external meshing, internal meshing and rack meshing. As the teeth of the pin wheel are pin-shaped, it has the advantages of simple structure, easy processing, low cost and ease of disassembly and repair compared with general gears. Pin gearing is suitable for low-speed, heavy-duty mechanical transmission and dusty, poor lubrication conditions and other harsh working environments.

6. Movable Teeth Drive
Movable teeth drive is the use of a set of intermediate movable parts to achieve rigid meshing transmission, in the process of meshing, the distance between adjacent movable teeth meshing points changes, These meshing points along the direction of circumference to form serpentine tangential wave, to achieve continuous transmission. Movable teeth drive is similar to the general small tooth number difference planetary gear drive, single-stage transmission ratio is large, is a coaxial drive, but at the same time mesh more teeth, bearing capacity and impact resistance is stronger; structure is more compact, power consumption is small.

Movable teeth drive is widely used in mechanical structures for deceleration, in industries such as petrochemical, metallurgy and mining, light industry, grain and oil food, textile printing, lifting and transportation, engineering machinery.
